CCS Introduces NEST–RFDS Program to Support Community Energy Solutions

With the receipt of federal funding, the Climate Change Secretariat (CCS) introduces the Nunavut Energy & Shelter Technology – Research Facility Demonstration Sites (NEST–RFDS) initiative, a new program designed to support and coordinate community-led energy innovation across Nunavut.

Building on earlier work through the Nunavut Climate Change Centre (NC3) and the Community Energy Planning program, NEST–RFDS moves from planning into action by supporting real-world pilot projects in communities.

Earth Day 2026 – Our Power, Our Planet

The Climate Change Secretariat (CCS), in partnership with the Department of Environment, is inviting Nunavummiut to take part in a series of activities to celebrate Earth Day 2026.

This year’s theme, Our Power, Our Planet, highlights the shared responsibility to protect our air, land, water, and wildlife for future generations. It also serves as a reminder that small, everyday actions—such as spending time in nature, reducing waste, and raising awareness—can contribute to meaningful change across communities.
