To highlight the critical role that glaciers play in our climate system, and to recognize their role in providing fresh water to nearly two billion people around the world, the United Nations has designated 2025 as the International Year of Glaciers' Preservation. Going forward, and starting this year, the UN has proclaimed that March 21st will now be known as World Day for Glaciers. This proclamation also aims to raise awareness about the economic, social, and environmental impacts that melting glaciers will have around the globe. Did you know? Nunavut is home to nearly 75% of Canada’s glaciers.
