The Government of Nunavut, as represented by the Energy Secretariat, participates in a number of Federal/Provincial/Territorial (FPT) energy forums with governments around Canada.
Council of Federation Canadian Energy Strategy
The Canadian Energy Strategy Working Group, established in July 2012, is led by Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Tom Marshall, Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger, and Alberta, and composed of provincial and territorial Ministers of Energy. The working group is building on the 2007 Council of the Federation document entitled A Shared Vision for Energy in Canada.
Energy and Mines Minster’s Conference
The Energy and Mines Ministers’ Conference is an annual gathering of federal, provincial and territorial ministers responsible for energy and mining portfolios. At these meetings, ministers discuss shared priorities for collaborative action to advance energy and mining development across the country. The 2018 edition of the EMMC conference will take place here, in Iqaluit. The focus will be on remote communities and energy.
