CCS Mitigation staff attended the 2025 Renewables in Remote Communities’ Conference in Whitehorse from March 25-28.  The conference brought together over 350 indigenous, government, and industry sustainable energy leaders from across Canada to discuss sustainable energy technology and opportunities in remote Indigenous communities.

The event included over 40 sessions, panel discussions, and workshops focused on sharing knowledge about innovative ways remote communities are applying sustainable energy technologies such as solar, wind, hydro, tidal, and geothermal to meet their energy needs. Our mitigation team participated in a panel discussion on policy as well as hosted a regional room to highlight the work underway in Nunavut.

The conference also included youth elements that examined the role that inter-generational collaboration and knowledge transfer can play in the transition to community led sustainable energy.
