In 2018 the Office of the Auditor General of Canada’s Audit of Climate Change Activities in Nunavut recommended that CCS, in collaboration with other GN departments and agencies, analyse and rank the risks of climate change impacts affecting those things that are important to Nunavummiut. This recommendation prompted the development of the Climate Change Risk and Resiliency Assessment (CCRRA) process. As part of the CCRRA, a Nunavut specific methodology was developed to identify, analyse, and rank climate risks and to develop a compendium of climate change resiliency measures. The CCRRA methodology was informed by Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and Inuit perspectives. After years of hard work, the final report for the CCRRA is nearing completion. Once released, the results of the CCRRA will be used to inform future climate change priorities and actions across the GN. Stay tuned for CCRRA updates.
