Earth Day 2025 Movie Screening Brings Iqaluit Together

Earth Day, observed every April 22, is a global day of action to promote environmental awareness and protection. This year’s theme, "Our Planet, Our Power," encourages communities to unite and take collective action toward the transition to sustainable energy.

To celebrate Earth Day 2025, the Climate Change Secretariat (CCS) hosted a free community movie screening of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax at the Astro Theatre in Iqaluit. Attendees were treated to complimentary popcorn and drinks as part of the event, which aimed to raise awareness about environmental protection and climate action.

The screening was a great success, drawing a crowd of nearly 90 people—from young children to elders—who filled the theatre. The lively atmosphere continued into a post-movie trivia session, where participants answered questions related to climate change, sustainability, and the film’s key messages. Winners took home fun prizes, adding to the excitement and engagement of the afternoon.
